Divide the class into two teams. Ask one student from one team to come in front of the class, and to choose a word from the basket, and acts out the word without speaking. The student from the next team will also do the same and in the end, whichever team has the most points at the end will win the game.

Newspaper Search

Bring the bundle of newspapers and magazines to the class and distribute it to the groups of students. Ask them to look for the pictures or articles that relate to each vocabulary word. Give students a set amount of time to finish the assignment. Each student will find a picture or article that relates to a word from the week and cuts it out and present and explain their findings to the class.

Categories

The teacher will announce a category and the students will select the words that go into that category. Some of the possible categories consist of Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Emotional words, Temporal words, Words with three syllables, Words with prefixes or suffixes and so on.

Pictionary

Pictionary is very similar to Charades where you have to split the class into 2 teams, and one student one team to come in front of the class. But, the only difference in Pictionary and Charades is that in Pictionary, the student has to explain the word with the help of drawings, while in Charades, the student has to act for explaining the word. The student from the next team will also do the same and in the end, whichever team has the most points at the end will win the game.

Vocabulary Bingo

Make a Bingo card for every student. Ask them to write a vocabulary word in every space. After that, read the definition of each word. Students should be able to determine what word you defined as well as put a counter on that square.

Whenever they get 5 words in a row, let the students say “Bingo”. As an additional incentive, provide a prize for the winners. It might possibly be candies or small toys and whatever you want to gift them as per your choice.
